Even though you still know us as MWEC, this nationwide alliance assures that all customers — large and small — continue to have the highest standards of personalized service at affordable rates. That's the power of human connections. In addition, MWEC is actively involved in the communities it serves. We are leaders in economic development and job creation. We also support local charities through Operation Round Up, sponsor an annual college scholarship for a promising student, and support local events that bring neighbors together. Why do co-ops need a unifying brand like Touchstone Energy? The electric utility industry is experiencing the effects of a number of legislative and regulatory actions on the state and federal level that are leading to a restructuring of many utility operations. In an increasingly competitive marketplace, electric cooperatives will want to tap their most important assets: community ties expressed by integrity, accountability and innovation. Does that mean one big company owns all the electric co-op? Absolutely not! Being a Touchstone Energy partner allows electric cooperatives to maintain their identities.
