Aerial Transmission Line Patrol
Scheduled March 9-13

Maintaining a safe and reliable electric system requires regular inspections of the infrastructure that delivers power to our homes, farms and businesses. One of the most effective ways to inspect transmission lines across a large service area is from the air.

March 9–13, Pergam will be conducting aerial patrols of the transmission system using helicopters. The helicopters are charcoal gray with bright high-visibility accents. These inspections allow crews to view transmission lines and equipment from above, helping identify potential maintenance needs, monitor line conditions, and detect issues that may not be visible from the ground.

Traditionally, this inspection work has been done from the ground. The aerial inspection of our transmission system, using ultraviolet, infrared and visible spectra technology, will:

  • Quickly detect even the smallest damage
  • Reduce the inspection window
  • Improve efficiency
  • Prioritize safety

During this time, members may notice helicopters flying at lower altitudes near transmission lines throughout the area. This activity is expected and is part of routine system maintenance that helps ensure continued reliability and service for our members.

Aerial patrols are one of the many proactive steps taken to maintain the electric grid and keep power flowing safely and reliably to the communities we serve.
