Glueckert Gains Leadership Tools
Matt Glueckert gained valuable leadership skills, industry knowledge and professional connections by attending the Robert I. Kabat Management Internship Program (MIP). "The focus was on leadership and communication, how to build a team and keep culture at the forefront," said Glueckert, operations manager at Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative.
"It gave me the tools to be more reflective and intentional as a leader in supporting and building up the people around me," he said.
Offered by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Madison,
MIP includes three intensive two week sessions. The quality of instruction stood out for Glueckert.
"The topics were extremely relevant to what we're facing in the cooperative world right now and they brought in some high-level experts," he said.
One of the most surprising benefits, Glueckert added, was the strength of the peer network of 30 electric cooperative executives from all over the country- from Alaska to Florida.
"I found out how different, but how similar the co-ops are around the country," he said. "It's a lot of shared knowledge. We've already reached out to each other as a resource."
While the program required time away from Williston, Glueckert said the experience was well worth it.
''I'm humbled and grateful I had the opportunity. It helped shape not only how to lead, but how to build and maintain a strong, resilient team," he said.
